The Irish Research Nurses and Midwives Network (IRNM) is pleased to note that IRNM Chair and Programme Manager, Simone Walsh, was invited by Professor Donal Brennan, Chair of the National Clinical Trials Oversight Group (NCTOG), to co-lead the NCTOG Workforce Planning Subgroup alongside Professor Peter Doran, Director of the UCD Clinical Research Centre.
The subgroup was established to examine the clinical research delivery workforce in Ireland and to provide an overview of current workforce capacity, challenges, and opportunities. The group also undertook an international review of workforce models used in other countries to support the delivery of clinical research.
This work culminated in the publication of Planning for Excellence: Ireland’s Clinical Research Delivery Workforce, which provides evidence-based recommendations to support the development of a sustainable and future-focused clinical research workforce across Ireland.
The report represents an important contribution to the implementation of the National Clinical Trials Oversight Group’s vision for strengthening Ireland’s clinical research infrastructure and capacity.
